Cancelling app subscriptions: iPhone and Google Play
Many apps sell subscriptions through Apple or Google. That’s also where you cancel them, not in the app itself. And importantly: if you delete the app, the subscription keeps running.
On iPhone
Open Settings, tap your name at the top and then “Subscriptions”. Choose the subscription and tap “Cancel Subscription”. Apple explains it here: Cancel a subscription from Apple.
If a subscription already shows an expiry date in red, it has already been cancelled. According to Apple, cancel a trial subscription at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
On Android (Google Play)
On your Android phone, open the Google Play “Subscriptions” page (play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions), choose the subscription and tap “Cancel subscription”. Google explains it here: Cancel a subscription on Google Play.
After cancelling, you can keep using the subscription until the end of the period you’ve paid for. After that, nothing more is charged.
Subscriptions that don’t run through Apple or Google
If you signed up on a website and paid there by credit card (for example with some streaming services), you cancel on that website, in your account.
Never forget again
In ANU Subs, you choose for each subscription whether it runs through Apple or Google Play. “Cancel now” takes you straight to the right place, and the app reminds you in good time before you need to cancel.
