Finding your subscriptions: see everything you pay for
Do you know where you actually have subscriptions and recurring bills? Most people can’t answer straight away. With this checklist, you’ll have the full picture in about 20 minutes.
1. Bank statements from the last three months
Go through your statements in e-banking and mark everything that comes back every month or every quarter. Also look out for direct debits, eBill and standing orders.
2. Credit card
Many subscriptions run via your credit card because you enter it when signing up online. Check the statements from the last three months, including cards you rarely use.
3. App Store and Google Play
Subscriptions in apps are billed through Apple or Google and often only show up on your credit card as “Apple” or “Google”. You’ll find the list of all subscriptions in Settings on an iPhone and in Google Play on Android (see our page “Cancelling app subscriptions”).
4. Paper and email bills
Search your inbox for words like “invoice”, “subscription”, “renewal” or “membership”. Remember paper bills that come once a year: insurance, clubs, newspapers.
5. The classics in Switzerland
- Health insurance (basic and supplementary)
- Mobile, internet and TV
- Streaming and music
- Gym
- Newspapers and magazines
- Household contents and personal liability insurance
- Electricity, Serafe, parking space
- Cloud storage and software
And then?
Add everything you’ve found to ANU Subs. A subscription is quick to add. The app shows you what you pay per month and per year, and reminds you in good time before every cancellation deadline. No account, no bank access: your data stays on your phone.
